Treatments for Pigmentation in the Epidermis - Excel V, CO2 Laser

Pigmentation in the skin is not all the same. They can be caused by so many different reasons, including external factors (such as sunlight), age, hormones, and more. And naturally, there are different types of treatment to consider for each type of pigmentation. One factor to consider, out of many, is the depth of the pigmentation. As you may or may not know, our skin is made up of several layers: the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous tissue (fat). The deeper the pigmentation, the more difficult it is to remove. This also means that pigmentation that lies in the epidermis can be relatively easier to treat.

Excel V laser is effective in treating superficial pigmentation and brown spots on the skin - the treatment has a high satisfaction rate because the skin can look a lot clearer even with just one session. The dermatologist must determine first whether the pigmentation really is in the epidermis. Usually these spots will be more defined around the edges and easily distinguishable.

Treatment is quite simple: after applying numbing cream for about 30 minutes, the laser only takes about 15-20 minutes, depending on how much there is to treat. The pigmentation will crust over slightly over the following days. Leave them alone to fall off naturally, and you will end up with fresh clear skin!

By the way, don't get this pigmentation confused with moles. Moles are treated instead with a carbon dioxide laser, which is used to vaporize the skin surface and treat a variety of raised skin lesions such as warts, syringoma, milia, etc. Consult our dermatologists today to see which laser treatment would work best for you, and bring yourself one step closer to youth and beauty!
