Who loves a good burger? ME!!! I am always on the hunt for a good juicy burger... though to be honest, I love McDonald's and Burger King just as much!
Today we ventured out a little further from our usual boundaries and checked out a burger joint called Gilbert's Burger and Fries. This place also has a chain at Garosugil, so if you're closer to that area you can go there instead.
At first glance, the place hardly looks like a restaurant if not for the tables and chairs set outside. The sign is very minimalist and actually a bit hard to miss. Plus, it's located in an alleyway that barely has any other restaurants nearby, just a cafe or two. However, one step inside and you're in for a cozy, Western-like atmosphere.
All the drinks here seem to be imported - I couldn't see any Korean brands. |
If you visit during lunch hour, you can get a pretty good deal - a junior burger, with fries and a drink for only 12,000 won! Take a look at the menu too (if you can read Korean).
Milkshakes and floats? Aweeeesome! That's definitely not something commonly found in burger joints in Korea. To be honest, I'd never tried a float before and was excited to try one, but I thought the food would be filling enough and opted for a simple Dr. Pepper instead. Definitely next time, though!
Cute ketchup bottle, thought I'd just squeeze in a shot for fun. |
But enough of all these useless photos. You want to see the main dish, right? So the menu we ordered was "Mr. President" (patty, sharp cheddar cheese, red onion, dill pickle, tomato, romaine lettuce, bacon, horseradish-mustard-mayonnaise) and "Sunrise" (patty, pimento cheese, tomato, romaine lettuce, bacon), with a side of cheese fries and onion rings. YUM! Are you ready?

The size was not so big that it was impossible to eat with your hands, although it did get a little sloppy. The Mr. President had a lot more toppings (and too much onion in my opinion) but was definitely more filling than Sunrise, which was delicious but lacking in something I couldn't quite place. Both were awesome, and the fries and onion rings were superb!
Am I going to come back to try the other menus? Absolutely! I cannot wait to try out the milkshakes and floats as well. Perhaps I will update this blog once I do! :)
