Eyebrow Transplantation in Seoul, South Korea

Whether you are aware of it or not, a person's eyebrows determine a large part of his/her first impression. They're the closest things to your eyes (in terms of placement on the face), and move accordingly to your facial expressions. Sometimes they can give off the wrong message just by how they're shaped, regardless of your actual intentions or emotions. For these and a number of other factors, you might be surprised to know how often people can be stressed out due to their eyebrows, or lack of.

Generally, women are able to fix their eyebrows with the help of makeup, and can shape it to their desires more easily. Some go the extra stretch and opt for a semi-permanent tattoo to save all the hassle. Different ladies prefer different styles of eyebrows, but I think it's safe to say that everyone likes clear and well-defined brows. Eyebrows are important for men as well: strong and thick eyebrows can give off an assuring, trustworthy impression.

Here are some cases in which people might consider an eyebrow transplantation:

Thin, sparse eyebrows
Eyebrows slanting downwards
Straight eyebrows slanting downwards
Eyebrows that are halfway full
Eyebrow hair loss
Eyebrow tattoos gone wrong
The method used for eyebrow transplantation is exactly the same as normal hair transplantation: FUSS (Follicular Unit Strip Surgery) or FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction). FUSS, also known as strip harvesting, consists of a strip of the scalp being surgically removed from the back of the patient's head, after which each follicle is individually dissected before being implanted into the eyebrows. FUE is a non-surgical method in which each follicle is extracted directly from the patient's scalp. It's important to consult the doctor in advance to determine which method is most suitable for you, based on your budget, scalp condition, expected downtime, and time spent in Korea. Here is footage of a FUE eyebrow transplantation surgery at our clinic:

An alternative for eyebrow transplantation would be, as mentioned before, eyebrow tattoos, or semi-permanent makeup. The results for this particular procedure only last a few years, but they are much less costly. However, if you're going for more natural and for permanent results, transplantation might be the way to go. Here is a comparison of a patient who had eyebrow tattoos prior to getting a transplantation.

Some tips to remember for after procedure:

  1. For about a month you may experience itchiness or flaking. Do not touch or rub the transplantation area.
  2. Within a month all the transplanted hairs will fall off. However, the follicles are still in place and will grow again eventually.
  3. Crusts and scabs will fall off naturally; do not pick at them.
  4. Wait at least 6-12 months for natural-looking results.
  5. Transplanted hairs will grow just like the hairs on your head, and will require trimming every week or so.
  6. Avoid alcohol, smoking, and foods that may cause inflammation for about 7-10 days.
