2015 SoYoung Asia Medical Cosmetics Award Ceremony - Dr. Ha Ji Hyun

SoYoung, an online platform in China for users to share their experiences in cosmetic surgeries and procedures, hosted the 2015 Asia Medical Cosmetics Award Ceremony, in which Renewme Skin Clinic dermatologist Dr. Ha was nominated as the "Most Trusted Korean Doctor." Last weekend she flew over to Beijing to attend the ceremony and receive her award: a representation of a year of hard work and well-earned love and trust from her Chinese patients.

We left bright and early on Saturday morning, and once we arrived at Beijing a staff member of SoYoung was waiting for us to escort us to the hotel at which the ceremony would be held: China World Summit Wing, a five-star hotel that was really high up. The reception was located on the 64th floor, which is higher than the tallest building in Seoul! From the windows we were able to see nearby downtown and headquarters of CCTV, China's national broadcasting station.

After checking in, Dr. Ha reread her schedule, rested for bit, and headed straight to the ceremony, where an extravagant stage and hall were waiting for us.

Before the ceremony started, a wall was prepared for the nominated doctors to sign, and then some photo taking time. :D

The awards kicked off with some video clips of SoYoung community members who became widely known for sharing their plastic surgery journeys on the website. It was also a golden opportunity for anyone working in the medical cosmetics industry to catch up on the latest beauty/dermatology related trends of not only Korea, but all across China and Taiwan.

Next up, the award for "Most Trusted Korean Doctor" was presented to Dr. Ha Ji Hyun of our Renewme Skin Clinic Jamsil branch, who had produced safe and satisfactory results for Chinese patients throughout the year.

An interview was conducted after the ceremony. Dr. Ha first thanked all the patients who had trusted and supported Renewme Skin Clinic, and also expressed her gratitude for SoYoung, the platform that made all of this possible. In recent years there has been a sharp increase of Chinese patients coming to Korea for cosmetic procedures, to which Dr. Ha offered a word of advice: doing plenty of online research beforehand is important, but the secret to a successful beauty transformation is to thoroughly consult your options with the doctor performing the treatment, and to select the procedure that best matches your facial features. (On a personal note, I would think this applies to doctors too: in order to gain a patient's trust, it would be most important to place patient satisfaction and safety before anything else, instead of recommending expensive and unnecessary treatments to spike sales.)

To wrap up the day we had Peking duck for dinner - the famous Beijing roasted duck dish that you guys need to try if you ever have the chance to visit China! Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside... man, my stomach is growling already just thinking about it!
